Much of the writing I do and many of the designs I create are observations on the decline in American society I've witnessed since 1959. Growing up in Chicago, a Boy Scout as a lad, I was raised to help others first and not ask them "what's in it for me?" My offer to help a little, old lady across the street today might be met with accusations of ageism and misogyny, and be labeled as micro-aggression.
So as I return to my roots sellin' t-shirts, I'm updating my approach. Rather than scoring a shirt from the trunk of my '72 Duster, my designs are already available in a number of places online, including this Shopify site.
Planning to use social media to drive sales, I reviewed the Shopify Apps available to add icons and links to my store, and chose the free Avantify app. Just as those who know me know that there is nothing micro about my aggression, I'm as cheap as they come, a DIY punk, self-taught and a supporter of open source software.
Beyond being easy to install with more design options than expected, I was delighted when this small team reached out to chat during installation to this little, old lady get up to speed, and restoring my hope for the future a little bit.
